Suddenly: Are You Ready to Fly

If you are not a Christian, then the day of the Lord is a bad day. It is a time of terrible judgment, all of your sin, all of your moral indifference. And all of your rebellious behavior will be laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. And you will not escape. "While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape."

Isaiah 13:6 says that "the day of the Lord is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty." And Isaiah 13:9 says "See, the day of the Lord is coming a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it." And in 2 Peter 3:10 we’re told that "the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare."

But if you are a follower of Christ, a Christian, then that day will be a day of great joy for we will meet Him in the air, and be changed to be like Him, in a trinkling of an eye! Suddenly Are You Ready to Fly?

1Thessalonians 5:6-11 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do

Surviving the Storms of Life

There are all kinds of storms; we have what man calls natural storms:Tornados, Hurricanes, Blizzards, and man has published all kinds of information, telling us how we should get through these storms. But I come by to tell you about another kind of storm: The storms that each and every believer must go through, many were not able to weather the storms, Many, even leaders, pastors and preachers that served once upon a time in the kingdom, have since left the ministry and some have stopped walking with God.

Mostly, people stop walking with God because of difficult situations in their lives. Though the underlying misconception is that life is supposed to be easy, there is nothing in the Bible to support this idea. Storms happen to everyone. Matt 5:45 tells us that we all have to endure the storms of life. While some troubles are due to our own sin, there is no perfect way to organize your life to avoid storms. The rain falls on everyone, and there’s nothing we can do about it.

The pain doesn’t last forever. Sometimes, in the midst of the storm, God seems to be silent. Mark 4:38, But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” It may seem that God is unaware of the crisis in our lives, but we have his promise otherwise.

Finish the Race 99 & 1/2 Won't Do

Do you remember the man who came to Jesus in Luke 9 & said, "I’ll follow you wherever you go"? Jesus said, "Before you make that kind of commitment, you need to realize that foxes have holes & the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."
"In other words, if you follow me, realize that there will be difficulties. There will be times when you will not know where you’ll sleep, or where your next meal is coming from. There will be difficult & discouraging times. But after you realize that, & then put your hands to the plow," He said, "don’t look back."

When people start the Christian life, & then quit when the going gets tough, they can become an object of ridicule to some & a source of discouragement to others. But I want to encourage someone today. Don't Give Up, Don't Give Out and Don't Give In, Finish the Race, 99 & 1/2 Won't Do!

Hebrews 12:1-3
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

Christmas: A Gift Beyond Description

Have you ever received a gift that was beyond description? I thought about that for a while this week. What kind of gift would it have to be to be called "indescribable?" Would it be a gift that you open & look at & say, "This is just beautiful, & it is something that I’ve wanted all my life what is it?"

The Apostle Paul declares in 2 Cor 9:15, that God’s gift of sending Jesus to earth for us is so awesome, that he cannot find words to describe that. He simply says, "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift."

There are only 12 days left until Christmas! Now think about all the anticipation we all have for Christmas day and finally being able to open our presents. Can you imagine the disappointment if you didn’t receive anything you needed, or worse you received nothing you wanted! We anticipate Christmas because we know that we will receive a gift worth waiting for.
This morning we are going to look again at “What Does It all Mean, a gift worth waiting for,“A Savior Has Been Born.”
Jesus is God’s gift, a gift worth waiting for! What is so special about Jesus? What is so special about the birth of another baby? Babies are born every day; what is so special about Jesus that makes Him a gift worth waiting for? Luke put it this way.

SCRIP: Luke 2:1-7 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. 2And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria. 3And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; because he was of the house and lineage of David:
5To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 6And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
